Well if you try to check in with BA & you get the message that it has not been possible to book a seat, it probably means that they have overbooked & you don't have a seat.
That's what happened to me anyhow. After a long bus trip this is really a bad situation.
So you get given a £3 coffee voucher & the offer of €600 on a voucher card (which can only be used for BA flights) if you accept that you are not getting on the plane...
I didn't & waited by the customer services desk, finally at the very last minute I got the seat & had to rush through security. Made it.
